About Us

A Legacy of Resilience, Compassion, and Teamwork

Ryan Lloyd was a teammate, an advocate, a leader, and above all, a family man. He lived life with purpose, unwavering determination, and a passion for lifting others up—especially those who felt overlooked or underestimated.

Growing up, Ryan was smaller in stature and didn’t hit his growth spurt until later in life. But that never stopped him. Whether he was on the baseball field at Wake Forest University, playing point guard for Landmark Christian, or cheering for his beloved Atlanta Braves, Steelers, and Georgia Bulldogs, Ryan was a fierce competitor with a heart for the underdog. He believed in hard work, perseverance, and encouraging others to chase their dreams, no matter the challenges.

Carrying Ryan’s Legacy Forward

At his core, Ryan was a team player who never gave up and never stopped encouraging those around him. Whether on the field, in the courtroom, or at home with his family, he showed us what it means to lead with strength, compassion, and humility.

The Ryan Lloyd Foundation is our way of carrying that spirit forward, so that no one facing epilepsy feels alone and so that future generations can live in a world free from its challenges.

Ryan’s daughter, Nora, will grow up knowing her father’s life inspired a movement of hope, healing, and progress. And through this foundation, we hope to ensure his legacy shines bright for years to come.

Ryan’s love for the game wasn’t just about sports

It was about teamwork and connection. He formed lifelong friendships through baseball and traveling, always cherishing the bonds built on trust, passion, and shared experiences.

Off the field, Ryan brought the same tenacity and heart to his career. As a dedicated attorney, he became one of the youngest managing partners in his field, specializing in bankruptcy law. He was passionate about helping people get back on their feet and giving them a second chance at life. Ryan listened intently, spoke life into those who were struggling, and fiercely advocated for his clients, just as he did for his teammates and friends.

In his late 20s, Ryan was diagnosed with epilepsy—a condition that appeared suddenly, without warning or family history. True to his character, Ryan refused to let epilepsy define him. He continued to excel as an attorney, a husband to Carlin, and a devoted father to his daughter Nora.

His ability to face adversity with grace and courage continues to inspire everyone who knew him.

At the Ryan Lloyd Foundation, Our Mission is threefold

To raise awareness, fund research for a cure, and provide essential support for individuals and families affected by epilepsy.

We unite communities through impactful events, educational initiatives, and strategic partnerships, including our collaboration with organizations like CURE Epilepsy. By driving meaningful conversations, deconstructing myths, and sharing the latest research, we empower families with the tools and knowledge they need.

Every initiative we undertake is inspired by Ryan’s legacy of compassion, perseverance, and teamwork, pushing us closer to a future where epilepsy no longer limits lives.

Our Foundation focuses on donating proceeds to research grants that seek to foster scientific research and look to understand and find a cure for epilepsy

We have partnered with CURE Epilepsy which helps us in identifying specific research organizations that are awarded grants.  We will determine where our proceeds will go once the ‘new’ awards for 2025 are announced
A future goal is to involve other college baseball teams to model our awareness ‘weekend’ to raise money for epilepsy research.

Our Why

The Ryan Lloyd Foundation was established in 2023 to honor Ryan’s incredible legacy and continue the work he lived for: supporting others, building awareness, and creating opportunities for hope.

Ryan’s story is a reminder that epilepsy can happen to anyone, at any time. Yet, for a condition that affects millions worldwide, there is still so much to be done. That’s why we are committed to:

Raising awareness

Educating communities about epilepsy and breaking the stigma

Helping find a cure

Funding critical research to advance therapies and save lives.

Providing support

Empowering families and individuals living with epilepsy through
education, resources, and community-building.

Ryan’s passion for teamwork, his heart for the underdog, and his drive to advocate for others are the foundation’s guiding principles.

Through events, partnerships, and awareness initiatives, we hope to grow this mission nationally—uniting athletes, families, and communities in the fight against epilepsy.

The Foundation’s 2025 donations will help fund three epilepsy on-going research grants:

Dr’s Metcalf and Chen from the University of Utah

are studying medicines in development as neuro-immune therapies for epilepsy.

Dr. Auerbach of SUNY Upstate Medical University

studying cardiac pathological markers for Arrhythmias and SUDEP.

Donate Funds to a Local Charity

Fund local educational and support resources
